The National Economic and Social Council (NESC) is the national advisory body to the Taoiseach and the Irish government, providing research dialogue and advice that helps achieve Ireland’s sustainable economic, social and environmental development. In May 2025, it published its report ‘Ireland’s future power system and economic resilience’ which outlined it’s analysis of the government’s current energy policy finding “Ireland’s power sector transition is proceeding into ‘fog’ with limited visibility and strategic alignment, where key stakeholders are disconnected and uncertain about the path forward”.
