RSPB says the birds may be a step nearer to extinction in Scotland after Ed Miliband approved a ‘deadly’ farm to hit clean power target.

Puffins and kittiwakes will be pushed closer to extinction in Scotland after the “deadliest wind farm” was given the go-ahead by the government, the RSPB has said.

The Berwick Bank project off Scotland’s east coast is one of six offshore wind farms to be awarded subsidy contracts that could add £1.8 billion in green levies to energy bills.
